This past weekend, we had the final gathering of the discipleship program we have been helping run through YWAM ministry’s Wildfire program in the UK, internationally known as Kings Kids.
The program includes a group of young people aged 14–19 who committed to taking part in this year of discipleship. Through mentoring and three gatherings across the year, we come together to reflect, receive teaching, and grow deeper in our relationship with God. A key part of the program is helping these young people grow in leadership, confidence, and boldness in who God has created them to be.
– The first gathering was in January in Cardiff
– The second was at the end of March in Harpenden
– The final gathering this past weekend was here in Cornwall
We had the joy of hosting this final weekend and were able to share some of Cornwall’s beauty and hospitality, traditional pasties, cream tea, and time together at the beach.
This summer, some of the young people will be heading on outreach to Germany and Spain.
One beautiful fruit of this discipleship journey was seeing Ella step out and share at Glow, a countywide youth gathering for around 150–200 teenagers aged 14–17, organised by Creation Fest, SWYM, Scripture Union, and YWAM.
She shared alongside one of our staff, Connie, and it was such a joy to see the confidence, freedom, and boldness with which she spoke. Watching her grow and use her voice to encourage other young people has been a real blessing and a wonderful reflection of what this discipleship program is all about.
This summer, as a family, we will also be taking a youth group from a church in Canada on outreach to Ecuador.
We are excited for what God has ahead, and we would deeply value your prayers, for wisdom, provision, safety, and for lives to be touched and transformed through this mission.
