Finding Refreshment and Rejoining the Team

It’s been a few weeks now since I finished my sabbatical. Although it’s been a few weeks of finding my feet again, it’s been a joy to be back with the team. Seeing where they have grown and what God is doing through the work of YWAM is always encouraging. It’s certainly been a busy few weeks though. We began back with a retreat time as a whole team, since then I’ve been meeting with the leadership team looking at our vision and future plans. We have an amazing leadership team and I’ve truly felt very released by them all over the past year that I’ve stepped back.

It’s also been a few weeks of being presented with new opportunities for ministries that we are praying into and preparing for. It’s certainly not been a slow restart back into ministry.

As I’ve returned it’s been refreshing to be back with the team as well as feeling like I’ve jumped in a raft heading down some rapids. Exciting, thrilling and also heading towards some unknowns.

The reminder to me though in all of this, is that God is always with us in our journeys. We will have times when we will need to rest and be refreshed, this is one of my big takeaways from my sabbatical time, but also we will have times where we’re holding on trusting God as we navigate the rapids.

I’ve been finding that as I’ve rejoined the team and it being a busy time I’ve also needed to find the moments of rest in my day. Presently it’s been making sure I take my time with reading the Bible (I’ve been following a year’s reading plan). This has given the space to not just have my thoughts on all the tasks of the day or week, but also to have the time to reflect on something other than tasks.

Wendy and I are also trying to find times for walks or date nights. Finding the time to reflect together in our week has been a huge blessing and place of refreshment. We’re trying to build more of that in, but slowly but surely we’re making the time for each other.

Where do you find your refreshment, especially when life can feel so busy? Is God calling you to find a bit of reset in this?
