Back in Cornwall: Reconnecting and Looking Ahead

Dear Reader

Part 2 of our October update

We returned to Cornwall at the end of August after our time away, and it has been good to reconnect with people, catch up with our YWAM Immerse community, and begin settling into this next season.

Our return included meetings in Harpenden and attending two weddings, one in Wales and one in Harpenden. We have also had opportunities to reconnect with friends and ministry partners and to hear what God has been doing in their lives.

It has been encouraging to spend time with Wildfire Ministries, connecting with teenagers and families.

After a season of rest, reflection, and debriefing, we are grateful for the opportunities to step back into community and ministry with a fresh perspective. We are still learning to recognise where God is leading and to respond faithfully, one yes at a time.

A New Christian Learning Centre in Redruth

One of the exciting developments in Cornwall is a new Christian learning centre in Redruth, created to support Christian families who homeschool their children.

The story began around five years ago, when a pastor’s son joined a YWAM outreach in Cornwall. During that time, he had an encounter with God, and his parents began to sense that God might be calling them to Cornwall.

Over the years, that initial yes has grown into something much bigger. The pastor has now committed to travelling regularly to teach, and three tutors from different parts of the UK have also said yes to becoming involved. Families are stepping forward, too, as they seek a place where their children can learn, grow in faith, and be equipped to serve God.

Having homeschooled our own daughters, we understand some of the joys and challenges these families experience. When Ella was preparing for her GCSEs, we also had to navigate the practicalities of finding an examination centre in London. We know how valuable it can be to have support and community along the way.

Wendy has been able to help at the centre by sharing devotionals and playing games with the young people while the staff have lunch. It is a small but meaningful way to be involved in what God is building.

The centre’s motto is:

Learn. Embrace. Serve.

We love this vision: helping young people grow in knowledge, embrace who God has created them to be, and develop a heart to serve others.

Please pray for the staff, the families, and the young people as this new initiative develops. Pray for wisdom, provision, strong relationships, and for the centre to become a place where young people encounter God and discover how they can make a difference.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

As we look back on this season, here are a few things we would love you to celebrate and pray about with us.

Thanksgiving

  • For the new Christian learning centre in Redruth and everyone who has stepped forward to make it possible.

Prayer requests

  • For wisdom, provision, and strong relationships at the new learning centre in Redruth.
