Hosting teams

When we moved to Cornwall one of our key ministry areas was wanting to host teams. Since then we’ve hosted multiple teams each year. These teams have been key in connecting with local churches and ministries, from serving at Creationfest (a festival our team have served at each year), to working with local churches at their youth groups or teaching the Bible.

This week we are hosting two different teams. One from a Bible school run in Montana and the other from a Discipleship Training School from YWAM Harpenden.

As many of our team are currently away on outreach in Brazil it’s been great having these two teams with us. Both are serving in different ways with the churches we work with. The DTS, who are with us for 1 week, have been focusing on working with a church project that helps young people who have been caught up in drugs. While the Bible teaching team is visiting a variety of churches over 4 weeks. The church leaders have been sending me messages of how encouraging it has been to have young people who are really passionate about God’s word and are able to teach in a way that is really helping people from their church get excited about the word.

As I’m writing this and reflecting on having these teams working with us I’m reminded of how Jesus sent out the disciples in Luke 10.

These weren’t scholars, but simply people who had chosen to follow Jesus. He entrusted them with his message and sent them out to go to the towns and villages with his message. In much the same way as we host teams here in Cornwall we are seeing them go out, helping those who need to know Jesus and to help other local churches and ministries to grow in the ways they are bringing the gospel to people here in Cornwall.
